Llanhilleth welcomed New Panteg RFC to the Park for the return League Fixture after winning away last month 32-9. Unfortunately New Panteg only had fourteen players available on the day and also had to start with passive scrums.
Llanhilleth opened the scoring through outside half Chris Stevens who crossed under the posts for the first try which he also converted. Llan scored a further five tries in the first half through Fullback Luke Morgan, a penalty try, openside flanker Liam Price, left wing Chris Hastings and hooker Carl Hone, with outside half Chris Stevens adding a further four conversions for a halftime lead of 42-0.
Llanhilleth made their five substitutions early in the second half to give all the squad valuable game time, replacement left wing Alex Davies added two further tries along with replacement blindside flanker Elis Price which were all converted by outside centre Dominic Bevan Jones for a final score of 63-0.
To their credit all the fourteen New Panteg players who took to the field worked their socks off from minute one to eighty and did their Club and jersey proud. All at Llan wish them all the best for the remainder of their season.
Even though all of Llanhilleth’s starting fifteen and replacements played their part, special mentions go to second row Daniel Crandon, and the back row of the returning from injury Liam Brown, Liam Price and Iestyn James who were the pick of the forwards and outside half Chris Stevens and centres Greg Thomas and Dominic Bevan Jones who were the pick of the backs.
The coaches will now concentrate on getting the squad ready in training this week, as we look forward to our next league fixture this Saturday at home to Chepstow RFC which is sure to be another stern test as we look to avenge our earlier league defeat in this top of the table clash.
