St. Julian’s HSOB’s RFC v Llanhilleth RFC

Llanhilleth started their league campaign off with a fine away victory against a determined St Julian’s HSOB’s side who competed well in the first half as both packs of forwards took the game to each other both in attack and defence.

Llan’s forwards started to get on top in the second half with hard yards being made by props Terry Blackwell and Terry O’Brien, second row Paul Annetts and flankers Liam Brown and Liam Price, this released their backline which was well marshalled by halfbacks Justin Breakwell and Chris Stevens and allowed the three quarters to start racking up the tries for a well deserved 52-10 away win.

Llan’s points were scored by Carl Hone try, Jack Vanbeers-Green try, James Foreshaw try, Owen Williams try, Alec Teear try, Alex Davies 2 tries and Dominic Bevan-Jones try for which six were converted by Chris Stevens.

All at Llan wish St Julian’s HSOB’s a successful season and we look forward to the return fixture later in the year and thank them for their welcome on and off the field.

The coaches will now prepare the squad for their first home league game against local friends and rivals Hafodyrynys RFC this Saturday 8th September 2.30 K.O.
